GLEANINGS FOR SENIORS AND OTHERS

The building of a career is quite as difficult a problem as the building of a house, yet few ever sit down with pencil and paper, with expert information and counsel, to plan a working career and deal with the life problem scientifically as they would deal with the problem of building a house, taking the advice of an experienced architect to guide them.

It is better to choose a vocation than merely to hunt for it. -Choosing a Vocation (Parsons).

DEBATING SOCIETY NOTES.

The Debating Society has just completed a fairly success¬ful year under the leadership of Mr. Blanchard as president. We have held a series of triangular debates with Lockport High School, and Masten Park of Buffalo. The Oratorical Contest, which was contemplated did not come off, as many of the contestants had other school activities which interfered. However, it is expected that this event will be held next year. A banquet was held in the dining-room of the Imperial Hotel, Friday evening, June 1st, at 8 o'clock. Dancing followed the banquet, which everyone enjoyed. At our last meeting the new officers for the school year 1917-18 were elected, who are as follows:

President-Sherman Taylor. ;
Vice-President-Harold Potter. .
Secretary-Charles McCarthy.
Treasurer-Fred Devlin.
Executive Committee-Philip Goetzmann, Howard John¬son.
Faculty Advisor-G. P. Leete.
Entertainment Committee-Arthur Muldoon, chairman.

With this set of officers a very successful year is expected. Anyone wishing to join may give his name to any of the above and his application will be considered at the first meeting-next fall.
