The CHRONICLE congratulates Mr. Ozias C. Baker, '05, on his appointment as secretary of the Niagara Falls Business Men's Association. To Mr. Baker belongs the honor of hav¬ing made the suggestion that the Niagara Falls High School have a school song. As a result of his suggestion "We gather here to grasp the hand" was composed by the late Dr. Lovell, first principal of the High School. For years this song was heard at debates and at athletic gatherings.
SCHOOL SPIRIT
What is school spirit, may I ask?
Some people take this school to task;
Because we have to ask and ask
For the support of any task.
To get the students out to games,
We have to call them naughty names;
But, for the band, we all will say,
"We pledge you all our loyalty."
Now when our teams come back to school,
We cheer and laugh and play the fool,
But not like any other school.
"What was the score," our students cry,
And then we hear somebody sigh,
For rarely do we go to games,
That's why they tack on us bad names.
Come, let's turn o'er a new leaf now;
Come out to games, no matter how;
Forget to toil for once right now,
Come to the next game and show 'em how.
Bring out the horse and jitney bus;
Bring a megaphone and cheer, you cuss;
For old Niagara needs a hand-
Please give it to her so she'll stand.
In future days, when you look back,
A thrill run up and down your back,
No place can ever fill the room
Of Old Niagara's Boom, Boom, Boom.
