AS A SPECIAL COMPLIMENT.

Jimmie-My ma's gone downtown to pay some bills.

Tommie-Pooh! The man comes to the house to collect ours!

Teacher-What will your father say, Johnny, when I tell him how bad you've been?

Johnny-I dassent tell yer, miss. Maw don't 'low me ter use dat kind o' language.

THE SECRET DIVULGED.

He-But you've known her all your life. How old is she?

She-I'll tell you, but it's a secret, mind. She is just at the age when one doesn't look it!

The sunset dies, but lingers still
In poppies' crimson bloom;
The twilight fades, but the silver stars
Shine out 'mid the enfolding gloom.

So Joy walks with us a little way,
Great as a joy can be;
Then drops our clinging hand and goes-
But, ah! the memory!

FOR PUTURE REFERENCE.

He only thinks he thinks who thinks
The girl he loves to-day
Will not insist, when she's his wife,
On having her own way.

PASSING REMARKS.

Former Victim - I am.
